I am pleased to write this letter of recommendation for Mr. Craig Butz. As his supervisor, I have had the opportunity to observe Craig in the classroom during the 2003-04 school year.

Craig is an excellent teacher. His teaching style engages the students and encourages participation. Even those hard to motivate students were compelled to respond to questions and give their opinions. Students were required to utilize higher level thinking skills during lessons and assignments. Craig uses a number of innovative teaching strategies to encourage student participation. His choice of books and objects used to illustrate concepts are creative and truly captured the students' interest. His non-confrontational style in the classroom worked well even with the difficult and disruptive students.

Craig is very easy to work with and actively participated in our continuous improvement activities. He is always cooperative and an asset to the English department. Craig's leaving will truly be a loss to the District. I would not hesitate to rehire him.
