Paper #1

Write an essay in which you illustrate a point using personal stories of your own. This will be a stronger essay if you work with points of significant realization or change in your life. If you are a risk taker, work with experiences or parts of your life that you do not yet fully understand.

(Note that the point of this essay is not just to tell a story, but to make a point using a story.)

Requirements: 4-6 pages double-spaced. Format guidelines can be found on page 348 of A Writer's Reference.

Due dates:

  • Rough draft: at individual conferences January 9-11--two copies
  • Revision: Wednesday, January 16--three copies for peer critique
  • Final: Thursday, January 17
